Sugar Pine Lake lies less than a half mile from Foster and Lion Lakes on the south side of the Coffee Creek watershed. Though there is supposedly a trail from Sugar Pine Creek to Union Creek, I have yet to find it. And any off trail route to Lion or Foster Lake involves a lot of very loose rock and a good deal of brush. For these reasons I would not suggest having a shuttle driver drop you off here with your car somewhere else. But don't let this detour you from this wonderful hike through the forest.

The hike is not easy but well worth the hall. You can find a few small campsites on the way to the lake near some beatuiful fern meadows.

All the best sights are all at the lake. With nice shady campsites and great fishing I could easily spend a week just relaxing on the shores of this alpine beauty.
