This is no doubt the easiest hike in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. The drive however is one of the worst with over ten miles of steep dirt road you will gain almost all your elevation on the drive up.
From the trail head only one mile of relativity flat trail leads up over the ridge. About half way to Boulder Lake you pass the trail junction for Little Boulder Lake.
Little Boulder is slightly harder to get to, but often gets less use than the larger Boulder Lake. Bolder Lake is very popular so don't expect to find peace. This is a favorite for youth groups like the Boy Scouts
and school field trip. Fishing is good & campsites are everywhere. There is also a few off trail lakes that offer some adventure for day hikers.
